“Big George” · Heavyweight · 1969–1997

Marshall, Texas, then Houston’s Fifth Ward: one of seven children, and by his own account a troubled teenager who dropped out of school at 15 and spent time as a mugger. At 16 he joined the Job Corps after seeing an advert on television, earned his high school equivalency, trained as a carpenter and bricklayer, and in California gave up football for boxing. In 1968 he won heavyweight gold at the Mexico City Olympics. In June 1969, at 20, George Foreman turned professional in New York City. Start at fight one and watch his career, one fight at a time.
