Semipalatinsk, Kazakhstan: a Soviet air force officer's son and Vitali's younger brother, raised across the Soviet Union and settled in Kyiv. In the summer of 1996 he won super heavyweight gold at the Atlanta Olympics: tall and quick, with a long left jab and a heavy right hand.
