“The Diamond” · Lightweight · 2009–2025
Lafayette, Louisiana: a boy of Cajun heritage whose parents split up when he was about five, and who dropped out of Northside High School in the ninth grade after too many street fights. He found somewhere better to put the fighting. As an amateur in mixed martial arts he won all seven of his bouts, including the 2008 ISCF amateur lightweight tournament in Iowa. In May 2009, at 20, Dustin Poirier had his first professional MMA fight, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Start at fight one and watch his career, one fight at a time.
