Sildi, a village in Dagestan, then Kirovaul, where his father turned the ground floor of the family home into a gym. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, a Soviet Army veteran and youth coach, started his son wrestling at eight; at nine the boy wrestled a bear. After a move to Makhachkala he added judo at 15 and combat sambo at 17, and got into his share of street fights. In September 2008, a week before turning 20, Khabib Nurmagomedov had his first professional MMA fight, in Poltava, Ukraine. Start at fight one and watch his career, one fight at a time.
